Klonopin Damaging Digestion: Is Klonopin Making you Sick?

Digestion problems, weight gain, weight loss and other stomach and intestinal related problems are often associated with taking Klonopin, Clonazepam or Rivotril. I hear from people contacting me about troubles with Klonopin detoxification and rehabilitation daily. Their main refrain is: “I had no idea taking Klonopin was going to be this bad. If I knew or my doctor told me I would never have tried it in the first place.”

You probably got started onto Klonopin by your doctor for anxiety or panic issues. Perhaps sleep was the concern. But now you feel it’s time to move on and detox from Klonopin but you run into wall after wall in the form of withdrawal effects from Klonopin.

When you try to stop taking Klonopin or even try cutting your pills in half, you go into horrible withdrawals. Klonopin is one of the most addictive pharmaceutical drugs I know of, and detoxing from it is intensely traumatic if you, your doctor or your medical detox center takes the wrong turn along the way. Some believe rehab needs to be part of their detox, as they started onto Klonopin with problems which aren’t handled yet.

Drugs like Klonopin or Clonazepam are benzodiazepines which have a relatively quick active phase and affect how you feel emotionally, physically and mentally. This benzo is longer lasting and can continue its effects for 6 to 8 hours, with a half life of about 30 hours or so. So beware of stacking Klonopin or taking lots of it daily as it tends to accumulate in effect one day to the next.

Klonopin Clonazepam and Gut Problems

Klonopin is like a steel trap on your intestines and your stomach. One of its effects is to slow down or shut down proper elimination. Many people calling me about detoxing from Clonazepam tell me about colon surgery, stomach and intestinal cancers. These diseases are often associated with their taking benzodiazepines.

Some Warning Signs of Klonopin Damaging Your Digestion:

- anorexia
- coated tongue
- constipation
- diarrhoea
- dry mouth
- encopresis
- gastritis
- increased appetite
- nausea
- skin disorders
- xeroderma (dry, itchy skin

The above is the short list of gastrointestinal problems connected with Klonopin.

Rehab and Detoxing From Klonopin

The stomach problems you may experience while on Klonopin are reversed when detoxing from this benzo. Many people will experience vomiting, diarrhea, inability to eat and other flu like symptoms. The problem is these and other detox symptoms can force people to stay home as they never know when an attack will occur.

If you believe you are having difficulties because of taking Klonopin and wish to stop, minimally work out a strategy with your doctor or health practitioner. It could be tougher than you’re prepared for.

When you’re ready to detox and rehab from Klonopin, Clonazepam or Rivotril and you want to get it done correctly, I recommend contacting DrugRehabAdvisor about successful detox and rehab programs which are effective with these benzos.
