Drug Rehab Problems? Try A Different Type of Rehab
Looking for A Different Type of Rehab Program?
You may have been put on medications to temporarily solve your drug dependency or addiction problem. If you’re still on meds, pills or back using, even after counseling it’s obvious drugs still aren’t the answer to your problems.
But what is the answer to drug abuse, drug addiction or alcoholism? Is there only one answer? Drug Rehab Advisor specializes in successful rehab programs which end addiction.
Working in the drug rehab / addictions and detox field for 10 years, I’ve discovered that there is always more than one answer. Problems as life threatening that people fall fully into drug dependency or abuse are very major problems.
Finding the Right Rehab Program
The right questions should be: How long have you been abusing drugs or alcohol? What happens when you try to stop? How long can you stay clean? Do you have something in your life that you could make more desirable than drugs? Do you know how to make your body function normally without drugs?
People get trapped into using and abusing alcohol and drugs because they really don’t know any better. If they had a better solution to their problems they would do that. But all they’ve got is a bottle, a prescription or some drugs to solve their problems.
Sometimes getting off drugs or alcohol is easy. When the problem is major or life threatening, if the person has had many attempts at detox or rehab and things aren’t working out, you need to take a different approach to the detox and rehab program strategy.
Take a different approach to the type of program or methods you’ve already tried. That means if the rehab or detox programs were a drug substitute or psych based program, try alternative or holistic. If 12 Step is always used, try Cognitive or Learning / behavioral model. If hospitals were used, use homey rehabs with a personal touch.
The idea here is that if the method of rehab or detox hasn’t been working, use a different method.
Here is a detox and rehab success story from a person who simply stopped doing the ‘usual’ and tried a different approach than the ones he’d already tried, 10 times before.
I have been sober for about 3 years now. I have a job, I have a good relationship with my family, and I am happy for the first time in years.
I had been in over 10 different rehabilitation centers, some of which I had gone back to numerous times. My family was in total support of me getting clean but would not support me in my drug addiction which left me homeless for much of the time that I was using. Every treatment center that I went to wanted to free me from drug addiction and deliver me to my family a sober individual. I was put on medications that temporarily solved my problem, but once I was off of them I would find myself back on drugs and unable to deal with my life, some of the medications I was given gave me more problems than I originally had.
I personally was not a fan of someone else telling me what my problem was or how to fix it, but in a different program I got to figure that out for myself.
Different Types of Rehab Programs
The above is not an endorsement of any rehab program, as I work with many alternative detox and rehab centers and programs. I found that if people weren’t getting results with what they thought was the ‘right’ way to do detox and rehab, they only made breakthroughs in recovery when they took a different approaches to resolving their dependency issues.
This person’s rehabilitation was dependent on getting off drugs & medications – that may be an approach only some wish to take. This rehab message is: if a rehab method isn’t working despite honest efforts, try a different rehab and detox method.
