My problems and drug use began when I was fifteen years old. I was extremely antisocial and completely addicted to heroin. This went on for sixteen years and was probably going to continue for an even longer period of time had I not entered this program. I came here and I realized that everything wasn’t only my fault. I felt as if the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders. It was such a feeling of peace and relief. I feel terribly for my husband but I realize that for him, there is no “changing”.
I wish he didn’t have to be that way and that he could stop using drugs. This program has helped me find the courage to move on and stop sacrificing myself for him. I’m just so relieved that his inability to change is not my fault. J. P.
