Detox from Benzos
Benzo detox or benzodiazepine detox or withdrawals are best handled with FULL knowledge of what you’re getting into. Reading some of the forums on Klonopin or Ativan detox is like reading the diary of Anne Frank without the positive optimism given by a young girl. Benzo detox requires a full plan and knowledgeable professionals to work with.
Benzo Detox: Benzo Addiction Often Created by Psych Doc’s
Unfortunately, the people best suited to helping you through a benzo detox are not MDs, ER doctors or the family Doctor who got you onto benzos in the first place. The people creating the benzo epidemic are MDs following pharmaceutical rep advices that tell the MDs to sell more benzos.
Benzo Detox Problems
The biggest problem you need to face right now if you’re taking benzos you may have major difficulty stopping, even after 3 months or a year of being off benzos you still may be a wreck.
Most benzos were created to ease and relieve anxiety, stress, panics, nervousness etc. Benzos were also created to be the most addictive drugs known.
Imagine a drug that temporarily made a nervous, panic stricken, anxious person feel relaxed, dopey, high, at ease, dull, unaware, calm and accomplished those effects fast. But when the drug wore off 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours or several days later, the rebound back into that nervousness, anxiety, panic, depression, worry made the original problem seem less in comparison.
A person taking that benzo for a nervous or anxious problem, even heart tremors, would rush back to their benzos.
Benzo Addiction, Benzo Dependence
Addiction to benzos is similar to a benzo dependence. The only difference is when someone benzo dependent says they want off, they will hit walls, fires and devastating benzo detox effects when attempting to detox from benzodiazepines.
Benzo addiction is a compulsive obsessive desire to escape current reality followed by a feeling of relief or deep satisfaction when the benzos are taken. The benzo addicted person wouldn’t even dream of detoxing from benzos as benzos provide them a place of escape from life fears.
Benzo Detox Without Losing Your Mind
Benzo detox requires specialized knowledge of bio-chemistry and a full understanding how benzodiazepines create long term problems in peoples natural body functions. You probably don’t feel the same anymore and are wondering why. Those are the direct effects of benzo drugs.
Benzos create problems in an individual that parallel Anne Franks heroic closet filled days feeling trapped, in the dark with no where to go but inside oneself. That’s benzo addiction and detox effects.
Escaping the Benzo Detox Trap
Benzo detox needs to be programmed out by someone who is most likely not your MD or family doctor. Even traditional detox centers won’t do a benzo detox correctly. But there are benzo detox specialists who do have decades of success in freeing people from benzos. They focus on long term health and healing and accomplish miracles in weeks or 2 months tops.

I have taken xanax for about 3 years. My psych doc over time increased the dosage to 5mg a day. I didn’t think too much of it, but last summer I lost my bottle. Again, doc app was in 3 days…i could make it, right? NOT RIGHT!!!!!! The sudden withdrawal was complete hell. Torture. Sounds ampliied, couldn’t be touched by someone without jumping out of my skin, shadows and hallucinations darting past my eyes, no sleep at ALL. It was the most HORRIBLE thing ever. At the end of the second day i was so dizzy and confused….I remember getting a drink of water and walking back to the bedroom to try for the millionth time to sleep. Next thing I knew my mom was standing over me and all I could see was a white ceiling and feeling VERY tired. Turns out I had a grand mal seizure (my mom is an RN). I was convulsing, foaming at the mouth and had bit a big chunk out of my tongue.
The ambulance took me to the hospital.
After all of that I started having panic attacks that I would lose or drop my bottle AGAIN! Vicious cycle! I told my doctor I wanted OFF the xanax; I looked up a lot of information about benzo withdrawal. He dropped me to 4mg. I was STILL sick of it!!! Having to depend on a chemical to not DIE! So he decided to put me on 8mg of klonopin, plus 1mg of xanax only as needed. However, klonopin is a damn benzo! I am proud to say, I barely ever take the xanax. For that, I am proud of!
I am also ‘supposed’ to take 200mg of lamictal and 50mg of celexa. I have cut myself down to 20mg of celexa and 100mg of lamictal. YAY!
But the klonopin….still a benzo which equals still not good! Although benzos can be helpful short term, they are an EVIL class of drugs, I HATE them!!!!!!!!!! I know I am withdrawing from the celexa because i have become seriously depressed! NO appetite, sleep 18 hours a day if i can.
I am just SO SICK of taking medicine! ESPECIALLY benzos! I don’t think i have an addiction, just a total physical dependance!
Xanax addiction caused by psych. 5 mg / day of Xanax for 3 years can build up so many neuro-toxins in the nerves, brain, fat, etc that a person is very toxic. Benzodiazepines like Xanax are addictive and require supervised holistic detox to correctly withdrawal. Full body detox helps the person recover and live normally without benzos and not feeling like a psych case who’s anxious and panicy.
Unfortunately Erika’s comment may be interpreted by some as a reason to stay addicted to Xanax. Xanax side effects caused Erika’s grand mal seizure.
