Pharmaceutical drug addiction, especially pain killer abuse, is deadly. Michael Jackson died at the hands of his own doctors giving him Demerol and other drugs. Percocet, dilaudid, morphine, loritab, suboxone, Demerol, codeine, and other pain killing drugs lose their perceived benefits the longer they are used. Gradual tolerance to the drug results in the person desiring more drugs. Tolerance to drug effects creates possibilities of overdose, cardiac arrest, depression and other dangerous effects.
Prescription drugs are dangerous to take even with all the checks and balances placed on doctors and pharmacists. Pain killing drugs send people to hospital and the cemetery.
Why are pain killing and many other pharmaceutical drugs dangerous despite trained medical personal dispersing and administering them? To answer this, one has to understand the nature of addiction.

If a person becomes dependent on prescribed drugs, the politically correct term is called drug dependent. If they then abuse these drugs we say they are drug abusers. The time it takes to travel the path from drug dependent to drug addicted can happen quickly or slowly. Prescription addiction is more dangerous than illicit drug addiction as people can hide their medical drug abuse far easier than heroin abuse.
One of the ironic facts about pain killer addiction is that many abusers switch from pharmaceutical pain killers to heroin as the current price for heroin is cheaper. So much for the claim of harm reductionists who claim legalizing drugs would make them cheaper.
Pharmaceutical Drug Addiction
Demerol addiction is probably what killed Michael Jackson. He quickly became dependent on the pain killers and began using more and more, attempting to achieve similar levels of drug induced delusion he had in prior uses.
As the liver processes pain killers more quickly over time, they appear to loose their desired effect. But they still depress the body at the same rate. This is the danger – pain killers create depression and can stop the heart and lungs from pumping.
Apparently, Michael had sought to gain prescriptions from many different doctors. Michael probably got dependent quickly to Demerol and instead of being properly cared for by a holistic or integrative medical detox or rehab, the MDs simply up’d the quantity of drugs he took. Medical and personal ignorance killed Michael Jackson.
